Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the all-new Roland RD-88 in the stage piano category. The Roland RD series is one of the most-loved digital stage pianos by gigging pianists and keyboardists in the world. Now, the geniuses at Roland are making a breakthrough by adding powerful twin speakers to their iconic stage piano making it a compact and versatile product for stage, recording, and home sessions.
All of Roland’s high-end digital pianos; including the Roland RD series; are equipped with the signature SuperNATURAL Piano engine but in RD-88, it’s getting an upgrade, not 2 but 3 additional sound engines, the Zen-Core Synthesis System for other instrument tones, and SuperNATURAL Electric Piano engine specifically designed for EP type of tones. In total, the RD-88 is getting over 3000 tones in its soundbank.
Players will find the PHA-4 Standard keyboard (with Escapement and Ivory Feel) on RD-88 very reliable in replicating the touch and feel of a real acoustic piano. You will definitely feel the difference in weight from the lower register of the keyboard to the upper registry with several different levels of velocity. This will be very useful in playing a song that requires harmonization in dynamic.
The latest technology installed specifically for the RD-88 is the onboard speaker system. Yes, you read it right, RD-88 does have powerful twin speakers so you can play it anywhere and any time without the support of an additional amplifier. The dual front-facing speakers are a full-range type with 12cm in diameter and with 6W of power output on each including a pair of 2 cm tweeters, this ensures that your tone will be delivered splendidly.
Roland RD88 is lightweight! What, really?! Yes, it is the lightest of all RD 88-key series with only 13.5 kg, which can be easily tucked in its bag (sold separately). Not to mention it’s highly durable because after all, it’s Roland-made and designed to handle any road-tripping and stage-ready.
