Learn Three Distinct Styles of Music: Blues, Jazz, and Rock

Over the last century, the US has given rise to three distinct styles of music: Blues, Jazz, and Rock. These styles of music have spread throughout the world. Each one has a long and colorful history, rich in substyles, remarkable recording. All musicians play and have been influenced by the blues, and many jazz tunes are based on a 12-bar blues style. Jazz came along next to New Orleans. Some early Jazz was similar to the Blues. Dixieland, Swing, Bebop, Free Jazz are various styles of Jazz. In the 1950s, rock n roll was born. 60^th rock, British rock, Funky rock, and alternative rock followed. The three styles are basically quite different, they all have a common element, 12 bar blues. The 12 bar blues is one of the most often played And, therefore, the most important chord progressions in each of the three styles. To be an accomplished Blues, Jazz, and Rock musician, mastery of the 12-bar blues is essential.
