Yamaha P-143 – Beginner-Friendly Starter Digital Piano

The Yamaha P series has been widely known as one of the popular and top-selling digital pianos in the Singapore market, especially among beginners. Now, they introduced a much more affordable one with upgrades, please welcome Yamaha P-143 Digital Piano.

Yamaha P-143 is essentially the compact version of its older sibling – P-145. The main difference between Yamaha P-143 vs. P-145 is in the sustain pedal system, P-145 uses a tri-pedal while P-143 only has a single sustain pedal. However, this doesn’t make P-143 inferior to P-145 because in terms of features, looks, and playing experience both are identical.

Yamaha fully-weighted keys are one of the features that makes them popular among beginners, especially the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) action. Yamaha P-143 adapted this and upgraded its keyboard with the new GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) mechanism. The GHC reproduces the GHS key weight features; where you can feel the key weight differences between the lower register and higher register gradually; but shortened the key length for a more compact instrument chassis.

Yamaha P-143 is backed by the acclaimed Yamaha CFIIIS Grand Piano sound. When playing it, you can hear the acoustic piano sound characteristic – a bright, transparent tone with a spacious treble and an overall solid sonic feel. The rich resonance sound of the previous P series is also available when you are pressing the damper pedal. A total of 10 essential sounds are available for you to play with.

Pair the P-143 with the dedicated “Smart Pianist” app on your smart device via the USB connection to start the learning session, read music sheets, adjust the piano sounds, and more functionalities.

The portability perspective is always the main focus of the P series, that’s why the P-143 is also featuring compact and lightweight as their trait. With only about 11 kg and 133 cm wide, you can place it or bring it wherever you want easily.
