Why Is a Drum Stool Called a Drum Throne?

The term “drum throne” dates back to the early days of modern drum kits. In 1942, Ludwig introduced a drum set accompanied by the Swing Drumming manual by William F. Ludwig Jr., which portrayed the drummer as the “king” of the band who deserved a throne. Over time, the term became widely used to describe the specialised seat designed for drummers.
